I believe textiles are one of the most powerful forms of art in existence. Textiles are actually a necessity for everyday life. The most common forms are used for fashion and interior design. There are many possibilities of how textiles can be used to enhance our lives.
I enjoy using color within my designs as a way to express positivity to viewers. I believe that because there is power in color. Color is always affecting how we think and feel even if we are unaware. By using particular colors, I can get the viewer to feel a certain way. I do not use one medium when making textiles for there are many ways to effectively create designs. The main three mediums I work with are Screen Printing, Weaving, and Digital Printing.
My main influence is from the Fauve painter Raoul Dufy who later became a textile designer. What I admire about Dufy is how unafraid he was to create bold and colorful patterns. His work is already spectacular, but what is remarkable is his textile designs were made into Haute Couture.
